Grant Aided Projects

Building: 41 High Street (Crowle House East)
Project: Building Repairs
Grant: £2,867.20

Crowle House and its associated warehousing form an important building complex on High St. The complex is grade II listed and in parts dates to the C17. The THI grant aided urgent roof repairs to the rear warehouse. This involved replacing the upper wall plate and roof spar feet, which haod been damaged by wet rot. The grant also supported the replacement of three rotten upper floor windows on a like for like basis.

Additional works were carried out by the owner with the support of an English Heritage Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS) grant. These works included the installation of pigeon spikes on flat surfaces. This has eradicated the serious problems caused by pigeon dung. All the works in combination have significantly improved the fabric and environment of this complex and will enable to owner to pursue a fuller use for the buildings in the future.
