Applications to the Hull THI should be made through the THI Co-ordinator. Applications should be made in writing using the designated form and accompanied by the necessary supporting information. The THI Co-ordinator and THI Conservation Officer will visit all projects and work closely with the applicant at all stages of the application process.
"Portfolio Projects" and "New Projects"
The Hull THI makes a distinction between "portfolio projects" and "new projects". Portfolio projects are those identified for funding as part of the bidding process to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The THI funding has initially been fully allocated to these projects, subject to a suitable application being made. However, over the lifetime of the THI a proportion of the allocated funds will become free, as some portfolio projects do not proceed, or proceed without the need for grant aid. This means that new projects can be introduced into the programme. If you have a "new project" that you would like to be considered for THI funding, you should contact the THI Co-ordinator.
The Decision Making Process
Once an application has been received it will go through an appraisal and approval process. The Hull Townscape Heritage Initiative operates under the guidance of a Steering Group made up of key representatives from the Old Town. One of the roles of the Steering Group is to act as an Approval Panel for THI grant applications.
The approvals procedure is dependent upon the size and nature of the grant. Applications for grants of under £30,000 for Portfolio Projects will be decided by the THI Co-ordinator under delegated powers. Applications for grants of over £30,000 for Portfolio Projects will be referred to the Steering Group for a decision. Portfolio Projects will also be referred to the Steering Group if they have changed significantly since the Heritage Lottery Fund bid submission. All new projects will be referred to the Steering Group.
The Steering Group meets on a 3 monthly basis.
